Lulu OT+Yoga joined BFL’s Wellness Fiesta this August as a sponsor, and will lead a chair yoga workshop at the vibrant event made possible by a grant from Moody’s.

Laura Staton of Lulu OT + Yoga will run the workshop. She is a Senior Occupational Therapist at Staten Island University Hospital and teaches Yoga Therapeutics in Park Slope Brooklyn. Laura says: “Yoga possesses therapeutic value at any age and especially for individuals with movement restrictions.”

Laura implemented a chair based yoga program designed to treat individuals with motor limitations, including strokes, joint replacements, cardiac conditions, arthritis & debilitation among others. Her classes focus on correct postural alignment and body mechanics while increasing functional movement patterns.

Laura also founded Baby Yoga in 1999 with Sarah Perron and is the co- author of “Baby Om – Yoga for Mothers and Babies”, published by Henry Holt and Co. As yoga teachers, professional dancers and most importantly, new mothers, Laura and Sarah sought ways to share their love of movement with their babies.
