AWARE Hosts Carnival at Freedom House Emergency Shelter

AWARE organized and hosted a Family Carnival at BFL’s Freedom House Emergency Shelter on April 13, bringing hope and laughter to survivors of domestic violence and their families.

The Carnival featured face-painting, glitter tattoos, a photo booth, basketball, live music, cotton-candy and an appearance by Elmo.

AWARE’S  Ellen L. Friedman said ” I think it was a wonderful afternoon for both the volunteers and the residents – children and adults alike.  You all put your heart and soul into the day and I am confident that we brought some joy to Freedom House! It was an incredible dedicated group that I was very proud to be a part of.   A special thank you to the incredible staff of Freedom House as well as Kim Cooper King, DJ, Supa Dave, LeA and Ebony, as well as Elmo!  We are thankful for your support and look forward to sharing future AWARE events with all of you.  We also thank Kim at the Treat Truck for the delicious cookies she donated.”
