BFL’s Outreach Team is launching into a vital new partnership with The New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC), broadening the scope of its services and mission.
The team, lead by Outreach Director Angel Caula, will be working with HHC to assist people in Manhattan and the Bronx to “make sure they receive the crucial medical care they need,” said Caula.
The mission of HHC is to “extend equally to all New Yorkers, regardless of their ability to pay, comprehensive health services of the highest quality in an atmosphere of humane care, dignity and respect.”
HHC is a $6.7 billion integrated healthcare delivery system with its own 400,000 member health plan, MetroPlus, and is the largest municipal healthcare organization in the country. HHC serves 1.3 million New Yorkers every year and more than 475,000 are uninsured.
The Outreach Team will continue to hit the streets of NY, guiding individuals with disabilities toward solutions involving housing, benefits and rehabilitation, noted Caula.
