Our Mission

Barrier Free Living supports individuals with disabilities to live dignified lives free of all forms of abuse and bias.

Our Vision

Our vision is a barrier free world. We strive for a world free from abuse, where people with disabilities live in a supportive environment. In this world, society values all its members, and individuals with disabilities are free of any barriers preventing them from reaching their fullest potential.

Our Values

• Safety:
  Safety encompasses all aspects of our lives, including physical, emotional, psychological, electronic, and financial safety.
• Trust:
  Trust is an important building block in healing from violence and abuse and in forming strong relationships.  We lay a foundation of trust through our actions guided by attention to: honesty, transparency, open communication, and creating safe accessible spaces.
• Open Doors:
• It doesn’t matter how you come to BFL, we are here to support you. We have expertise in helping people with disabilities and in the D/deaf D/deaf-Blind and hard of hearing community to thrive.
• Empowerment :
  We support people in taking control of their own lives: freedom to be creative; act boldly without fear of failure; and be a resource to others.
• Interdependence:
  Staff, consumers, volunteers, board members, partners, and supporters all have unique and valued roles creating a network of strength and support.
