Anthony Harris has joined the Barrier Free Living team as a Behavioral Health Coordinator (LMSW) at the agency’s supportive housing program in the Bronx.

Anthony’s prior experience includes working with the Department of Health shelter system, with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) as a project manage manager for work site wellness, and serving as a social worker with correctional health services for those with mental health needs at Rikers Island.

We caught up with Anthony to find out what drew him to BFL’s mission.

BFL: What drew you to apply for a position at Barrier Free Living?

Anthony: I was looking to work with an agency that provided service, real impact and promoted change for the people served. Barrier Free Living is doing that and more.

BFL: What most inspires you about the work BFL does and/or its mission?

Anthony: I’m inspired by the way challenges are met with real solutions for change and the staff are committed to the mission.

BFL: What do you hope to accomplish in your new position?

Anthony: I will share my experiences, expertise and skills to assist the aims of the organization while promoting the welfare of those we serve.

BFL: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Anthony: I like to explore through travel, photography and curate spaces for others to connect socially.
