Joining Barrier Free Living in 2004 as an accounting intern, Yueqin Li has risen through the ranks to become the agency’s Chief Fiscal Officer by keeping a steady eye on both the mission and the bottom line.

“I realized early on that my job (in accounting) is very important because the services we provide can really change people’s lives,” says Yueqin.

For nearly 40 years Barrier Free Living has been working with people with disabilities, and survivors of domestic violence with disabilities and their families.

Through the years at Barrier Free Living,  Yueqin has continued her accounting education. She did her undergraduate work at Queens College and various trainings at places like SkillPath.

A life milestone for Yueqin came in 2008, when she got married.  Today she is the proud mother of two children, Ethan and Eric.

The accounting team grew under Yueqin’s management, and today includes Sol Coriat, Prudencia Pena, Axel Solis and Vicki Wang. The team worked together at the original 270 East 2nd Street office, and is now at the BFL Apartments administrative suite in the Bronx.

In her new position she will be working closely with both CEO/Founder Paul Feuerstein and the agency’s new leadership team of LeShan Gaulman (Chief Operating Officer) and Cynthia Amodeo (Chief Program Officer).  Yueqin is excited about the agency’s future, and the possibilities for the latest development, an 11-story supportive housing complex on the lower east side.

“I look forward to continuing to support the wonderful work the agency does every year. My team works really well together.”

In her free time, Yueqin likes to Zumba dance and travel and hopes to “try different foods all around the world.”
